Travis Austin Bennett

Travis grew up in the small West Texas town of Hart. Not too many people are fortunate enough to grow up knowing everyone in their community. I count it as a real blessing to have been raised in a farm community that honors its commitment to being good neighbors. I grew up knowing my grandparents, Weldon and Gaylia Davis and Ed and Sue Bennett, along with most of my great grandparents. His grandmother, Gaylia saw a spark of talent at an early age. She took him to art lesson's every Monday night with Audell Thomas. Over the years, his passion to paint and draw for fun lead him down an interesting path.

Right out of high-school, he felt a calling to be a pastor. Which was weird…because he and God were not the best of friends in high school.

Travis attended Wayland Baptist University.
He served as youth minister at First Methodist of Olton and Tulia, Texas. In 2004, Travis received a Master’s of Divinity from Asbury Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky. After graduation, he served as an Associate Pastor at First United Methodist of Plainview, Texas. Then in 2010, he became senior pastor of Morning Star United Methodist Church in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Currently, he serves Saint Stephen United Methodist Church in Amarillo as the senior pastor.

Besides being a pastor, Travis is also a talented artist. He loves to paint landscapes, cattle, and still life.
